Build Repair Grow is bursting with excitement and wanted to share some recent updates with you and look back at the success of the last year. Our 2023 / 2024 programs are already in full swing and over the summer we settled into a new and improved equipment space.
2023 / 2024 School Year Programs
Build Repair Grow is partnering with Greenfield Community College and a local nonprofit organization called Twice as Smart where we are teaching hand sewing in a weekly after school program.
Build Repair Grow is thrilled to return to the Vocational Independence Program at Monson Regional School District for the 2023/4 school year where students will learn bike repair, cooking, and gardening plus expand their skills in carpentry and hand sewing that they learned last year.
This May Build Repair Grow partnered with the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts to build raised garden beds and plant pollinator gardens with students from Charlemont Academy at the Food Bank’s new farm, Cultivating Community, in North Hadley.
Our Successful 2022 / 2023 Programs
During the 2022/2023 school year, Build Repair Grow continued our valued partnerships with each school we worked with the prior year. These partnerships have allowed us to provide enriching After School Workshops to students, fostering hands-on learning and skill development.
At Monson Regional School’s VIP Program, BRG partnered with their Vocational Independence Program to facilitate workshops catering to participants ages 18 to 22. These carpentry and hand sewing workshops yielded remarkable projects such as step stools, a spice shelf, roll-up hand sewn tool organizers, and button replacements on clothing.
Bridge Street School in Northampton hosted our carpentry workshops for 3rd to 5th graders which resulted in impressive creations. Project highlights included a wooden dog bed platform and fold-up lemonade stand, showcasing the youngsters’ creativity and newfound skills.
Finally, carpentry sessions at Gateway Regional School in Huntington were hosted for 6th to 9th graders. Some creative projects the students developed included functional nightstands and tabletop jewelry trees.
